Matthew B. McShane, DDS
Meet Dr. McShane
Dr. McShane grew up in Russellville, AR. He received his BS in Biology and a minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Central Arkansas in 2007. Dr. McShane served as a leader in many campus organizations during his college years, including the student orientation staff and student ambassadors. He was heavily involved with human physiology research as an undergraduate student, and was awarded a grant to study the effects of various metabolites on the coronary artery. His work in this area resulted in several published research articles.
He went on to earn his Doctorate from the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry in 2012. Dr. McShane served as the American Student Dental Association chapter editor, and was a member of the Christian Medical & Dental Association. During dental school Dr. McShane gained his passion for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and devoted his free time to complete six oral surgery externships at six different hospitals around the country. During this additional training he was exposed to various areas of the specialty including head and neck cancer and reconstruction, facial trauma, orthognathic surgery, cleft lip and palate and facial cosmetic surgery.
Dr. McShane completed his training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Nassau University Medical Center, a level one trauma center centrally located on Long Island, New York. He served as Chief Resident in 2015-16. He is trained in the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with an emphasis on dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, facial trauma & reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, oral & facial pathology, and TMJ surgery. During his training, Dr. McShane completed rotations within the departments of general surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, otolaryngology, anesthesia, and the
medical and surgical intensive care units.
During his first year of residency, Dr. McShane became engaged and married his talented wife Chelsea. Chelsea worked as a cardiac nurse during their time in New York, until the birth of their first child, Arden Kate. Since then, they have added two boys, Will and Henry to the family and Chelsea now works as a full time artist. In their free time, the McShane family enjoys attending their children’s sports and activities, traveling, and golfing when the schedule allows.
Dr. McShane is proud to be part of Eastern Oklahoma Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He holds memberships in the American Dental Association, Oklahoma Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, William F. Harrigan Society, and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Dr. McShane is Board Certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. His hospital affiliations include Hillcrest South and St. John-Tulsa.
